What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit our website. They help us provide you with a better browsing experience and allow certain features to work properly. A few of the things we describe below are stored in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, but they work the same way from your point of view, so we list them here too.

Types of cookies we use

Necessary cookies
Essential for the website to function properly and cannot be switched off. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services.
  • pp_guest_session

A random session ID that lets you play without an account. It keeps your streak, answer history and progress working in this browser. It is httpOnly, expires after one year, and is not derived from — or linked to — your name, email or IP address. You can clear it from your profile page at any time.

  • silktideCookieChoice_*

Stored in local storage. Remembers which cookie categories you accepted or rejected (necessary, analytics, marketing), together with a silktideCookieBanner_InitialChoice flag that records you have answered, so the banner does not ask you again.

  • pp_voiceover_enabled

Stored in local storage. Remembers whether you asked us to read questions aloud, so the setting survives a reload. It is written only when you press the button on the game, and it never leaves your browser.

  • pp_blitz_best

Stored in local storage. Remembers your best score in Blitz mode so the next run can tell you whether you beat it. It holds a single number, it is written only when a run ends, and it never leaves your browser.

  • moderation_session

Only ever set for our own moderators after they sign in to the moderation panel. Regular players never receive it.

Analytics cookies
Help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. This helps us improve our website’s performance and user experience. They are only set once you accept analytics in the cookie banner.

Examples: Google Analytics, page views, user behavior tracking

Advertising cookies
May be set by our advertising partners to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, and they are only set once you accept marketing cookies.

Examples: Personalized ads, conversion tracking, remarketing
